On April 24th, 2018 the second year high school students visited the Museum of Natural Sciences and the Museum of Human Anatomy in the Biological Sciences Sector of UFPR. The purpose of the visit was to consolidate the content learned in recent months about microorganisms, plants and fungi, and to enable a better understanding of the different phyla of the animal kingdom, which will be introduced in the second bimester.

On April 26th, 2018 the third year high school students, who are doing Biology in the IB program, visited the Laboratory of Human Cytogenetics and Oncogenetics at UFPR. The purpose of that visit was to enable students to have contact with two techniques widely used in biotechnology and in genetic studies: polymerase chain reaction and gel electrophoresis. During IB, students learn the theory about these two techniques, and during the visit, they had the opportunity to observe them being used in advanced genetic studies on breast cancer.

The visit was accompanied by Professor of Biology, Kelly Gutseit.
