Tico-Tico Magazine

The Tico-Tico magazine is a publication of the Swiss School Curitiba, whose name was inspired by one of the most popular birds of the Brazilian fauna. This bird has a plumage with an invariably red necklace and its singing – tic … tic … – marks its territory. Always restless, it is cited for its dedication to the chicks of other birds, like the ones of the Chupim, that usually chooses the nest of the Tico-Tico to deposit its eggs.

The composer Zequinha de Abreu was inspired by this bird to write the world-famous choro “Tico-Tico no Fubá”. Tico-Tico was also the name given to Brazil’s first comic magazine in 1905.
